Demolish and Rebuild Downhills Ward
Part of the NHS, St Ann’s Hospital provides essential community and mental health inpatient services in London. Stamfords was invited by the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust to demolish and rebuild the Downhills Ward at St Ann’s Hospital.
The project was a unique one, and required us to carry out complete demolition, along with a re-build that included anti-barricade doors, anti-ligature fittings, lockable ceiling grids, reinforced partition walling, and renewal of sub-standard pipes. Mid-project, the hospital underwent an inspection, so Stamfords delivered emergency flooring and decorating works to avoid sanctions and further disruption for our client.

Stamford Contracts was engaged by the Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey Mental Health Trust for a major redevelopment project at St Ann’s Hospital, specifically focusing on the Downhills Ward. The project entailed the complete demolition and reconstruction of the ward to meet stringent specifications essential for a mental health facility.
A high-risk area where any oversight could be fatal due to the high suicide risk of the ward. This project required meticulous attention to detail, incorporating high-specification safety features such as reinforced partition walls, lockable ceiling grids, anti-barricade doors, and anti-ligature fittings to eliminate even the smallest potential hazards.
During construction, we also discovered and replaced defective water pipes, further ensuring the safety and integrity of the facility.
